He even has to go in the shitter with me. I can't say enough how happy it makes me that he doesn't give my wife the time of day.

Taz does the same, he likes to sit on my feet. Dutch is a handsome pooch.

We took the 20 gauge out for a short snipe hunt/glorified dog run today, but no snipe.

Snuck up on a little pothole, saw ripples, and flushed four gadwall and a widgeon. Ki had to deal with his second double.

Oh, and these are the first gadwall I've ever had the opportunity to shoot. Early Christmas!

Today was the first time Dutch has seen snow. At first, he didn't want to walk out the back door, but that went away quickly. We strolled through the field behind him and didn't find anything, but when we got back to the garden, he found two small blackbirds that had shacked up under a clump of grass in the garden under the snow. He was determined that they weren't going to go anywhere.

Handled the cold like a champ, too. We were out only for about a half hour walk, but the wind chill is 3. Didn't seem to bother him in the least, but I will need boots, I think. The balls of snow between his pads bothered him as much as the sand burrs that got there in the marsh last month.

He will wear the hair off on his paws and between his toes when he gets to hunting. I would trim the hair on my lab and britt when we had an early season snow and they didn't have time to trim it theirselves. Have heard of people putting cooking spray or vaseline on the longer hair also, never done it myself.

Two days ago I sculled thru there and it was loaded with ducks...4-500 birds spread out on that section for about 300 yards. Today not so much. Can't figure out why. Conditions were the same. Gonna do it again tomorrow but go downriver about another 1/4 mile. If the ducks are there this week could be a great spot for the WCH.

Just leave the gun at home and save the birds for us.

Kidding shoot everyone you can.

And then shoot 2 for me.
