Yes. Just didn't want to make the impression that he was flagrantly berating/beating/burning/whatever the dog. I made some suggestions to him for working around the situation, but he is also of the mindset that the dog, at 20 months, is going through a challenge phase, testing alpha dynamics, so he thinks he needs to out-stubborn the dog. This notion has been supported by other GSP trainers he's worked with, as well as his previous experience training his Brittany. It may be so, the dog's a rock-headed, 90lb missile of energy, but by my observations that is not what shut the dog down in this situation.
