...collar finally took a dump. Four years old. Surprised it lasted that long. Doesn't matter much with Charlie. Never use it much anymore with him, but was planning on it with Cadee.

Would y'all say I got my money's worth out of it? It's the 400 model

Seen lots of 400s with problems, I have the SD 1225, seems to be well made so far, going into 4th season with no problems. Still has a long way to go to live up to my old Dogtra, that thing is still goin strong.

If it's the receiver, call Sportdog. My sd800 went last year. Learned that the receiver will go bad a few years before the transmitter.

They sent me a replacement receiver for about $40.

Sent from my phone.

They have a great warranty, and customer service. Mine was almost 6 years old. Getting a replacement for 1/5 the cost of a new setup is pretty awesome in my book.

I would have tipped them if given the option!

If buying another I would go with Dogtra, if you can fet a replacement, great. I bought my SD cause it had a tone, hoped to be able to hear it when my old britt got lost. I've been very pleased, but would still choose Dogtra.

No, not with any CC program. I kept the settings low and incorporated it into both correction, and during times of excitement while retrieving. I read the few pointers that came with the collar. I had no fear of him being soft to correction though either.

I country know much about other brands, but I think you and I both got our money out of it. I think they carry a two year warranty. To get double the warranty years is good enough for me. Ads a cheap replacement plan on top of that, and I'd go with the replacement. Shop around when the transmitter goes...

Remember, it's back to school clothes time.

Good to know. Dutch doesn't seem to be much of a sissy, either, but I was worried with all the talk about how looking at them wrong can hurt their feelings.

Are there CC programs?!? I followed the plan in the box, and had no issues. I thought CC was just doing that...

You're obviously not a pro trainer! There are programs, I've always felt that not being a ignorant dumass worked good enough. I had done 5 or more dogs before I finally looked at the box while starting Taz. Must have worked, I can nick him and he gets ready and focused, knows he gets to do somethibg cool.

Damn right I'm not! If someone would have asked if my dog was CC'd, I would have said yes. He can wear a collar, and is conditioned to it. He is CC'd.

I rarely have to nic him. The tone is all he needs for the most part.

Just pulling it out of the safe is all he needs to know fun times are ahead! I laugh seeing a dog get so excited about an e-collar.
