Differences

I've never had a chessie nor do I know anything about them. What are the differences in a chessie and a lab? I'm looking into getting a new retriever and it'll be 1 of the 2, not sure about which though. Might add the dog will also be a house pet.

Would love to be able to chime in here Reb, but at just eight months old, I can hardly call myself an experienced chessie owner. She's different than Charlie (lab) was at this age, but I couldn't tell you if it's a difference in breeds, personality or gender.

Is Cadee a house dog? Curious if chessies shed as bad as labs?

The differences within the breeds are far greater than those between them. Regardless of the breed, screw generalities and pay attention to the individual dogs involved in the breeding.

Thanks fellas for answering my "dumb" questions. Are chessies typically bigger than labs?

We had a chessie growing up. Extremely loyal to my mom, would guard the yard, protect us kids, mom, dad, etc. She was a great house dog and family pet. Yes, she shed a lot and if we didn't brush her a few times a week, her coat would start to smell.
