Good news during rehab

Postby jarbo03 » Mon Aug 27, 2012 11:37 am

These are a few pics of my buddys dog. In April he was hit by a car, several lacerations and severe damage to both tendons and ligaments on his left rear leg, mostly the ankle. The vet recommended surgery, but said if the scar tissue is strong enough he could have a decent recovery, being broke my friend had no choice. He got his cast off a month ago, and has been running around the yard and going on long walks. Today was his first day running without restriction in open fields. Things couldn't have went better, he and Taz had a great time, he was up and running well, but cautiously. Seeing the relief in my friends eyes made for a great day, glad Sam will be able to hunt this year.

Taz had some fun today also.

Dogs absolutely amaze me with their resilience. Most wild critters do, for that matter.

It is also a big deal to me, my buddy let me take Sam for a 3 day pheasant hunting trip a few months before I got Taz, we had a good trip, he also retrieved the biggest bull prairie chicken I have shot.

If your dog was not chilled and being more of an obnoxious a**hole, it would be just like Taz. He knows something is going down tomorrow, it is funny seeing a dog chase a docked tail, he truly looks like Taz devil around my house tonight. Will try to film it, seems every time i grab the camera he quits jacking around. That is a cool pic FS, my lab and britt would chill like that for hours.

He is just now finding his off switch at only nine monts old. I also wish he didn't have a tail at times. When he hears the alarm go off in the morning he will run back an forth from my side of the bed to my wife's with his tail beating the heck out of the wall when he gets there. It's so loud and I'm sure the neighbors love it!

Taz and Sam did great this weekend. Sam's leg was a little stiff on Friday after being in kennel all day while scouting. Rest of the weekend things couldn't have went better, have full faith that he will be chasing roosters with no problems this fall.
