It's all about gentle psychological manipulation, it's a lot like getting a girlfriend to try anal.

If I thought I could just give my dog 5 beers and a shot, then it might be. But I'd have to say it's not even close.

I FF'd my dog with zero experience and zero help. The book I used specifically said to read your dog, if they begin to show signs of shutting down to stop and try again the next day. It really isn't that hard and the benefits I've seen come from this have made every painful moment during that time worth it.

That's a good way to put it. Being inherently distasteful to put punishment before a correct action, and particularly so to a beloved pet, folks develop a deep psychological investment in its "necessity".

I got some dog training experts to speak on the topic at the last DU meeting. Had four speakers. One by one they got behind the podium and said buy a program. One guy had a book he showed but wouldn't let us look at inside. He was quite proud of the cover art.

Its so mysterious. ..

Take the mystery out of it. Buy a book and read it instead of being dependent on others opinions.

Exactly the same as me. I was scared but had faith in the hunters before me that had done it and the program.

I offered my SmartWorks collection to AT. Evan's series makes it damn near impossible to fick up.

Folks who do it themselves at least have that experience to fall back on for reminders when Pup decides to forget FF's lessons. Those who farm it out without going along to learn the process have to send Pup back to school and hope he doesn't decide to forget again as soon as Teach is out of the picture.

Yeah. I pushed Milo til he said stop. Play time, end session. Repeat.

Probably should be said that the nearest dog people like we are discussing are way over by Peoria.
I'm on my own.
Thanks for trying.

Portly carries a certain dignity and savoir faire that "husky" could never hope to obtain. I hear "portly", and I think of a smoking jacket and a castle. I hear "husky" and think of a 7 year old wearing dark blue Toughskins. Stick with "portly".

Back to the topic.
There's like 50 programs, 17 books, 15 tapes, 5 cd's, and an 8x10 photo of ford gilly suitable for framing.
You guys are absolutely worthless to me.
Thanks for trying though. Tryers fail and failures try.

Again. The best advice was given way at the top. Buy a program and follow it.
