That's terrible. Sorry to hear it.
My guess is he had some sort of allergic reaction. My vet always had me give my dog benadryl when she got certain vaccines.

Damn, that's rough, sorry for your loss. I assume you lost one before, get another and then loose that one. I'd be crushed.
