Yep.
if you dont feel a bit ill leaving a cripple behind, especially without flight, youre a cold hearted sleepwalking beast.

Nope. I rejoice in the happiness that I have gifted to the crabs, foxes, eagles, and buzzards. The joy they experience when encountering an easy meal, that they don't have to expend any energy to find, warms the cockles of my heart. I usually whistle "Zip a dee doo da" as I walk out of the marsh, with a smile on my face as I think of those foxes getting fat dumb and happy on a meal I provided for them.
Your perspective is fucked up if it makes you sad.

Oh my! We are getting into the deep philosophical stuff now, aren't we.......The whole duck hunting thing usually boils down to lots of trigger time, you know, killing stuff. Justifying not killing a cripple because it will be a meal for a swamp critter is alright and feeling sad about not harvesting a duck in fair chase is alright too.
On the other hand, perhaps people are too lazy to chase down a cripple or it might be that they are too much of girly-man to not try to end a cripples suffering. In either case it amounts to the hunter being a poor shot or a poor judge of his abilities.

I've been saying it for years but one day I will wear a goose shell for a hat and do this.

! The limit for ducks here is 7 a day and 28 in possession at home. Geese is 4 a day and 16 in possession at home. I won't say I'm the best wing shooter ever, but I can shoot a shotgun better than a lot of folks. To bad I can't say the same for shooting a pistol. Besides, if I don't shoot my limit in under 10 shells, it don't mean anything. 4 ducks is plenty for me.
