Savage?

Postby R. Chapman » Sun Mar 30, 2014 12:14 am

A the local shop today and seen a Savage bolt action (brand new, uncertain of model) in .250 Savage (.250/3000). Thinking about laying one away. It'd be a fun gun to launch little .257" pills at fast speeds and whack the snot out of varmints and such. Never have cared much for the savage bolt action (though it is a very accurate action). Would be hard to find brass either, just run .22-250 into the sizing die and wa-la. Be a fun little rifle. ;)

If Jr. Hadn't went off the handle, it would be. The .250 is a badass little cartridge though.

^ that should be how everyone types JR when referring to tripod. People saying Jr. confuses me because I think they are talking about Jehler Jr.

I stopped reading there, because obviously whoever wrote it is a shitheel. And if they later refer to a bullet as a "pill", it should be discounted.

Hate to do it but I'm gonna agree with Rex on this one. Always heard the small caliber bullets referred to as pills. Although I would argue that a .257 is not a small caliber bullet...

If the Silly Savage doesn't have an accutrigger, look forward to putting in an after market trigger.

If you really like the .250 Savage (that is your opinion) you might start looking for a Savage Model 99 take down in that caliber which is a fun, unique rifle in a relative obsolete caliber.

I had a guy come in just the other day and ask for .250 Savage rounds, I just about slapped him.

I imagined you had the same look on your face as your avatar!

Savage triggers are rough unless adjusted, or accutriggers. Best way is just an aftermarket trigger.

Isn't that what they call people from North Carolina?

I would consider it a small caliber if it shoots bullets under 90 grains.

So you're calling one2many a shithead, as well as the rest competitive rifle shooting arena. That 6mmbr site is a damn good site. You might learn a few new reloading tips or something to improve your hunting loads (that's if you reload).
