Freezing a duck

Shot a wigeon today I'm pretty sure I want to get stuffed. Don't have time for a week or 2 to get it out to the taxi. What all do you guys do to freeze them?

I just put them in some panty hose and put them in freezer have buddies who have just Walmart bagged them and put them in freezer. They will stay for several months that way.

You gotta remember that the taxi doesn't always get to the bird immediately. Lots of birds sit for a year before they are reomved to be skinned. You have time.

Panty hose head first, gently rick it's head into the wing, place in ziplock or vacuum seal. The less air the better but don't crush it.

Well just took it in today...Had a couple free hours.
No problems with the pantyhose and ziplock. Supposed to be done in 4-6 months.

I've heard this as well. I've also heard not to wrap beaks and feet either, as all it serves to do is pull moisture from them, which is not desirable. I've never gotten a solid answer on this, makes me wonder if it even matters what the fuck you do.

I deliberately hammered a world champion taxi the other night at the DU banquet on this topic to try to get the final word (though hardly final). His answer: "I don't get the panty hose thing, don't ever do that!"

He reiterated plastic plastic plastic, either in large garbage bag for a big bird like goose or swan, or smaller bags for smaller birds like ducks and similar. He even noted that a bread bag works wonders because it's long and slender.

This one was $285.
They do some awesome work. Had a few deer done there and looked at some of their waterfowl stuff while I was dropping off my bird. 4-6month wait. Can't wait to get it back.

Depending on how much he likes them, my dad charges his friends anywhere from they just buy him everything he needs for it, to $75. Although the last bird he did he told his buddy just to buy the mannequin and such, and when we dropped it off his friend handed me $60 and told me to wait till we got home then give it to my dad.
