I like getting new birds. For me, that is a big deal. Maybe 10 years ago, they split our goose season. I saw the most cacklers I have ever seen during the split of course. :(

We will be adding to our snow total this evening. We are supposed to get 12-16" tonight which will give us about 164" for the season thus far. Anyone need some snow ?

Hell no I'm planting potatoes around March 17th.

On of the things I remember from my Mid Ohio Valley years is the annual Easter Blizzard.

Lets not talk about that blizzard crap. Lopez (assa) is worried about his peach crop. Says the buds are turning pink and it's six weeks early.

Maybe peach trees are like mature pecan trees and know more about it than we do. When I bought my first house down here the old gal next door told me how honest my side-yard pecan was: never a bud before the last frost.

Those hilljacks down there are an embarrassment to waterfowling. I have never been there and don't plan on going in the future either. Quite the video. There is a big discussion at hunting Pa.com about this thing.

You guys are just jealous.....

Very first thing that came to mind when the shooting started was the Potter County deer opener.

That's the whole of PA as far I can tell. It was certainly the case in Northumberland County where I grew up. Oh what a circus.

I never realized how enjoyable deer hunting was until I hunted outside of the circus. I didn't go hunting for the first few years I lived in Georgia because I assumed public land would be like the circus I was used to. Not even sure why I started. I went out scouting, found a spot I really liked. I got there crazy early to secure my spot. I sat in my tree in the dark until about a hour before shooting time until I saw one small group of hunters go in and they kept going until they were completely out of earshot  Only once did I end up closer than I would have liked to another hunter. And of course, that's the time the buck comes in the small area that both of us could see. As I was turning into position, the other guy shot it :( He also shot two other deer I couldn't see.

So many stories and stupidity on deer hunting in PA. 2 out 3 buck I got back there had bullet wounds that were not mine. One of which I shot while standing over a deer in the middle of the field arguing about who killed the buck. :o BTW, the only bullet wounds in that dead deer we were arguing over were mine.

Good ducky weather this morning. Cold, West wind 15-20, rain changing over to hail but not a lot around. Saw maybe 20 Woodies but they didn't want to play. Did get off a couple of shots but couldn't connect. Good day to be out.

Got out to PI yesterday for my first opener there in 20+ years. If you don't have a blind or a layout there for the opener you can forget about going. Good ducky day with NW wind and colder with intermittent rain. Four guys and w e limited on Bills and took 4 bonus mallards. Plenty of shooting until about 10:00 then we picked up and called it a day.

Good to see y’all had some success Don! 4 bonus mallards on a diver hunt never hurt any feelings.

Easy limits of Blue Bills at P.I. yesterday morning. Nothing else flew into the rig. Good day to be out. Haven't seen squat for geese so far. Had 13" of snow Sat and some of it is still hanging around. Don't want a repeat of last year.

Deader than dead here in the NW zone. 70+ degrees every single day of Oct so far with the exception of today. No ducks seen and we can't hunt geese until 10-24. Season needs to be moved back so we only get a week or two of shooting in Oct. not 26 days like it is now. Very few reports from Pa. and NY, where they really shafted those guys in western NY. If all there are is woodies to shoot it won't be long before they will be in trouble again....... :qh:

Thanks DE. A great day to be out. Cloudy, spitting what I swear was snow early this a.m.. Little to no wind had the birds coming in from behind and trying to land behind us, but enough came in the right was so we limited on Canadas this a,m.. Few ducks seen except for a couple of flocks of woodies off in the distance. So 3 guys 9 honkers and everyone went home happy.

Great start! (It being hunting season in most Canada country, I've not told our little town's flock how lucky they are since this morning.)

A great day to be out and had all the elements necessary: NW wind@ 10-15, cold, spitting snow, overcast and lastly all the honkers you would ever want. Only one problem.......they never flew my way despite my being in the cornfield that they were using last evening. At right about sunrise the first group got up and flew dead south, and every group thereafter did the same. So the final score was Donnie 0, geese 1. Never fired a shot. Also I never saw a duck which is very disconcerting to say the least.
