This is our 7th diver/sea duck trip (6th for me I missed Lake Superior), only once did weather lead to a disappointing trip. Every good guide has solid backups because there are going to be days it is not safe to go for the intended trip. The one time, there just were few ducks in the backup and we could see mass flocks of ducks offshore that we just couldn't get to safely.
One day of good weather and two days on backup hunts is a very successful trip. We've never had 3 days of good weather. If that's your expectations don't go on the big water during duck season. Right now I don't think we get out in the ocean at all, but the Maine coast is so irregular and there are long bays. I'm not too worried, but I am guessing we are hunting completely inland from the land if we get anything close to that weather on day 2. One good day makes these trips worthwhile. Monday still looks possible for that good day, but wind forecasts that far out are near useless. We could still have dead calm, but anticipation makes me check this far out.

The pretty spoonbills.
SpinnerMan wrote:I'm about 50% sure we saw an actual flamingo the other day. It was pink on the head and neck, longer legs and neck and I am sure the bill was curved. I'd be more sure but it's incredibly rare to see a flamingo in Florida, let alone this far north. There was no way to turn around on the I275 bridge over Tampa Bay to try and get a better look. I would have loved to get a better look at that bird. My wife pointed out all the differences when we looked at the spoonbill up close today.

The question?
Are two guys hiding in the water connecting hoses to the gadget?
Jimmy?
Plainsman? Is that you?

They took some really good shots based on old information that they'd been stewing on for years. Years and years of stewing...lol
Hit the site and came out swinging.
So I found the foe hammer and tried ignoring it.
They chased me around all winter, finally I had enough and took the gloves off.
So here we are with my foot wedged firmly in mouth and I have to....apologize.
BUT IM NOT KISSING IT
Sorry fellas and thank you for tolerating the stench and mostly thanks for not piling on board.
Took a few shots where I was just glad you all ignored it.
Thank you.
