It's all legit if you have paperwork. There would be no money in this business for me if I couldn't write off what I do. Basically another 15k in my pocket.

I only buy things with credit cards, the cards download into quick books where I can quickly assign the expense account or assign it as a job cost to a customer. Filing the recipes is as simple S dumping them into a file. Way better method than adding them up manually

All I know is, once the accountant started doing mine, I was getting an extra 2k back. Well worth what I pay to have them done.

Whole truth, the 2200 was my payroll from the construction company. There was a little corporate income as well, not much though. Snowplowing and dock and hoist is a second business besides my wife's job that is owned by my wife, I am an unpaid employee. I keep and organize the paperwork, I have a CPA do the taxes, I couldn't tell you what I actually make a year other than it is about 10% of what I made in 2006. I probably would qualify for a bridge card I I applied

Got a friend who does concrete and he runs his the same as you, kinda. His wife owns the business, he is paid minimum wage through Paychex, which takes care of workers comp in case he gets hurt. Pretty good system actually...must be good. He only works 6 months out of the year and the guy has everything.

How do you figure out all these loopholes in taxes. Sounds like the kind of thing I could get into

6 months earns you an unemployed cheque in ny. is he playing that game as well? You people and your tax dodging/welfare games are pissing me off.

No, his unemployment on minimum wage would be damn near nothing. He is honestly making 200k plus...has no desire to be on welfare.

And it's not tax dodging. Learn what self employment is, then talk.

No welfare or unemployment here boss.
Just writing off legitimate business expenses, and in my case not making a whole lot to begin with because I'm always out fishing an hunting with jr or his sister. The trick is finding a business where you can make a lot quick if you have smarts and drive, then plan your work and time off strategically

I still haven't figured the planning out for hunting part. Seems it is the busiest time of year for me.

Jehler, it's not like money will actually be money when you reach retirement age anyway.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

There is a fair chance that when I am ready to retire I may be mortgaging everything I own, getting umpteen credit cards all on the same day, cashing out and disappearing....

Picked up 6 cans of blue spray paint to finish painting up the snow goose floater spread. Oh and paid $51 for a rider mower out of a storage unit.
