Are dove considered upland? Around here the DNR considers them songbirds.

Fall into upland birds here. Maybe because we dot have an abundance of actual upland birds throughout the state. Quail in different regions and some pheasant in north Texas.

They are considered upland here. That's about all we got now that the quail are gone.

We had a dove season for about a month until the PETA pricks out voted us to get it removed.

Your missing out. Almost as much fun as early teal season. Basically the same thing, but teal are faster.

I know. It looks like a blast. We just have too many animal rights people in this state.

I think it's more fun. Easier. Less prep. No water to drop shit into. And they taste better.

Hell yea, I love the dove opener. We have a group that goes out of town for 2 days. Normally too hot to be outside by 11:00, means its time to pound beer.

They do taste better. Only real thing that puts teal over the top is the environment that you are in. Nothing like the sound of a group of teal whizzing past you in the dark.

The way I hunt doves there's water to drop shit in. I'll have to take some videos this season and post them up.

We just find a wheat field, pretty easy to do in KS. Usually on public hunting.

Cut corn fields are the best here. I just wish we could hunt them in the morning, since that's when they always seem to be flying. Hunting the afternoons sucks.

No clue. Legal time for dove is noon to sunset. You know- that time when doves aren't flying nearly as much as an hour after the sun comes up.

I had to throw a vote up for chukar. Those little fuckers are tasty! You'll work up an appetite trying to shoot one, too.

For enjoyment I vote pheasant. Quail are fun, and tasty, but they're usually just a side show on pheasant hunts, for me.

About four years ago we went on a canned pheasant hunt, jr was ten, the farm owner tells us there is a good chance we will see chukar as the group the day before paid for 20 and shot none, sure enough 45 minutes in a chukar flushes under jr's foot, scared the living bejesus out of him and without lifting his gun he points and hip shoots the poor bird at 1 yard in self defense, noting left but feathers and busted crop seeds lol. That is the only chukar I have ever seen
