I haven't bought anything but red wings for about 20 years now. They just have the right fit for me. I usually get about 2yrs out of a pair and the soles are shot. You can resole as the uppers are still good but I just go new.

I have been to three stores and all I can find is Wolverine, Georgia Boot and Irish Setter.

I would go with Irish but $200 is just too rich for my blood.

This is very true. I spend more time in my boots than any other shoes. I make sure they can hold up and are comfortable.

I wear mine when I am not at work and to do stuff outside around the house, Wolverines last me 9 months at the longest.

I used to buy Redwing boots. I got tired of the high price and bought me some wal mart boots. These are more comfortable and have lasted longer than any Redwing boot I ever owned. 59 bucks.

No, that doesn't help... It doesn't smell bad, the linings just fall apart.

These are only 7 months old.
And no, the green spots are not mold or fungus... They scared me at first, had to take the soles out to check... It is where I have worn thru the cloth on top of the sole.

I'm about the same size. Not as heavy and maybe an inch shorter. I mean, I go through insoles pretty fast. But the boot itself holds up.

Yeah, thats where I usually am at. Actually these held out longer than they have in the past, but that is probably because in the past I would wear them 10 hrs a day. Now they get worn for a few hours a week.

The current pair I have is so bad that I have trouble getting my boot off. The boots still look good on the outside so I am just going to live with it.
