Aaaand Again

Postby assateague » Wed May 15, 2013 3:10 pm

Ok, most of you know that there's no love lost between me and Layniebug's teacher. The last tome was a note about how she "disrespected" the teacher because she broke one of the toys that the teacher brought in "for everyone to share at play time".

This was what was brought home today:

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1368647726.696983.jpg

In case you can't read it, I'll translate. I had a bad behavior. I lifted up my friend's dress and lied to Mrs. George. And the teacher's comment this was inappropriate, and next time I will take it to the administration.

After some very simple work, involving interrogating my daughter and a quick phone call, here's what happened. They were in line for the library. Layniebug and her friend were grabassing as 6 year olds will do, and laughing. My daughter flipped her friends dress up, and the teacher saw it. They were both still laughing and carrying on. Layniebug of course lied when the teacher asked if she "touched her friends dress", as 6 year olds will also do. If you've been around kids for more than 10 seconds, you'd know how to handle this. For the record, kids are required to wear rights and pants under any dress, which they both had on.

My dilemma- as badly as I want to unleash, there are only about 20 more days of school. The teacher, as I've mentioned, has no kids, and has absolutely no fucking idea how to deal with them, other than the "respect my authoritah" approach. Nor did she bother explaining WHY it was inappropriate. If you're going to be that ducking lazy as a teacher, please don't bother me with notes home. This is the same teacher who, on the field trip, took everyone's tickets INSIDE the museum to hand them out to the parents and kids. Unfortunately, we were stuck OUTSIDE, because she had the tickets and we couldn't get in.

So, should I just sign the paper and let it go, or should I once again let her know how I feel? And should I attach a bill for my daughters belt, which she still hasn't returned?

I get so tired of dumb fucks full of jackassery who cannot teach. My daughter doesn't know what 6+6 is off the top of her head, but she can tell me all I want to hear about recycling, "Box Tops for Education", and fairness.

One day I'm just gonna flip the fuck out. Handle your business, woman. If you want to be treated like a professional, then act like one, not like the dumbass 20-something with no life experience that you are.

Sign it with a mushroom stamp so she knows who the Alpha male is and just how fucking stupid it really is.

THIS ^^^

Just forget about it, sign the thing, tell your kid dont do that no more, and move on.

She is about to leave your life forever.

After the last day of school, look her up and tell her what you really think about the situation.

If she is hot, or even marginal, get a picture for me and Botiz.

That's a tough call. If anything, do it without getting the kids involved...meaning don't send your eff off note with Lanie because she'll be the one who has to deal with the stupid bitch from here til the end of the year.

I'd be more upset about the piss poor education... Math should be a top priority and social issues shouldn't even be in schools!

With that said I'm with Titz and TK.

Ok, I'll choke it down for 20 more days. I have every intention of letting her know exactly how pathetic and lazy she is, though. Perhaps the conversation could take place in the parking lot, so that I may use her Obama sticker on her Beetle as a selling point to my "you're a sorry excuse for a teacher" speech. I did, however, John Hancock the hell out of that thing. I put as much disdain as I could in that oversized signature. Thinking about a small note as well, sort of a passive aggressive thing (although I suspect she wouldn't get it). Something along the lines of "If there is a next time, I would appreciate it if you would please take her to the principal, and I will be more than happy to discuss any issues with them. Please don't feel as if you're doing her any favors by teaching her that there are no consequences to her actions". If I could get her to clutter up the principal's time with enough mundane, childish crap, I'm certain I could somehow impact her career, even if only a little. I would be doing future generations a favor.

Nope. Then she would assume that Layniebug tossed it out the bus window so she wouldn't get in trouble. I wonder if I could teach Layniebug to say "My Dad said to go fuck yourself" and not have her get in trouble for it?

When I was in 4th grade I got written up for having a dirty desk. On the way home I hid the referral in some Ivy. I looked up and saw my mom pulling up in her car. I told her I fell off my bike.

One day ill have to tell her what I was really doing! Oh and the dumb shit teacher forgot she wrote me up.

I think you should let it go. I know it pisses you off, but in the bigger picture of your girls life, she wont even be able to remember this incident in 5 years.

You my friend are the one getting the elevated BP.

Just let it go, and if there is ONE MORE incident this year, you can put me on the speaker phone and I will help you cuss her out properly.

I don't see the issue. Girl gets caught, lies, writes letter, parent signs to acknowledge problem, sign letter, return letter, talk to girl about lying, issue over. If there is an issue it is having her write a letter with incorrect spelling. The teacher should have assisted with this.

For me the issue wasn't about lying. She's in trouble for that. The issue is with a teacher who has demonstrated again and again that she has no knowledge whatsoever of how kids "work", and that there is a certain amount of "kid stuff" that kids will do. Trying to manage them as if you're teaching 16 year olds is just stupid.

Also, if you are going to confront a kid, don't take the lazy way out and say "write a letter home". If you are going to say something is inappropriate, then EXPLAIN to the kid why it was inappropriate. It's called educating them. As I said, if she wants to be treated as a professional, then act like one. Don't act like the young 20 year old who doesn't know shit about life. Sorry, but that's the way I see. The very best teachers should be el ed teachers, not the teaching students who wanted to do it as an easy way to a job, and not having to deal with kids who may actually be smarter than they are. I see far too many crappy teachers in elementary school than I do in the advanced grades, and that is just ass backwards. They should be giving them the best foundation possible. It's easier for a crappy teacher to teach high school, and far less harmful to a student to have better teachers in grades 1-5. IMO.

I think you should write a long letter telling Layniebug's teacher how stupid she is in a thank you basket at the end of the year. It would confuse the hell out of here and possibly cause a breakdown.

Has there been other incidents that have gone on without your knowing that maybe she did try to explain what was going on to Laynie. Maybe this is something to try and get Laynie to comply while other stuff isn't working. The only way to find out is to sit down and politely discuss the issue with the teacher. Not picking just suggesting, I've been on both sides of the fence. I also feel the highest caliber of teachers should be in the lower grades. 7-8 subjects a day isn't for the faint of heart to teach. Along with teaching the social skills which is most definitely a part of early education.

Unfortunately, this isn't just me. I'd be among the first to punish my kids when deserved. But the field trip a few weeks ago was "enlightening". Spending 6 hours on a bus with other parents led to some good conversations. Apparently, this teacher is a huge fan of sending home notes all over the place, most involving things like "feelings", "disrespect", and "unfairness". I wish I was making that up. But from what I've seen, and what I've heard from other parents in the class, the teacher simply has no clue how a first grade class should "work" or what makes 6 and 7 year olds tick. Kids deal in concrete concepts. Kids deal in "uh-oh, I'm in trouble". They do not deal in notions of societal fairness, nor do I even think that they have anything near a firm grasp of just what "respect" and "disrespect" means. The teacher is hung up on catch phrases and techniques which she learned in school, which quite frankly don't seem to be working for her. Either that, or a good solid 30% of her class is comprised of hellions who do nothing but disrespect her and each other, and need notes sent home on a regular basis. And I don't believe for a second that this is true. She's just not a good teacher, and has no clue how to handle 6 year olds. None. Hopefully it'll get better, but I suspect she'll just cling on, get bitter, and continue to provide a not-very-inspirational education to generations of first graders. She seems like the type. Not very bright, either.

And I'm still waiting for the belt. I've asked twice now. Perhaps an invoice really is in order.

she sounds like my girlfriend's old room mate. this girl didn't know that the Arabs don't have Halloween and that the women over there have no rights. unfortunately, that girl is going to be an English teacher.

make sure you add the gas tax, paper tax, stamp tax, anger tax, rain tax, waste-of-time tax, and the miscellaneous tax to the cost of the belt on the invoice, all told, i think the belt is going to cost over 120 bucks to replace when it's all said and done.

It's a situation where the teacher had to do something. Let it go at that. She informed you what happened.
It's really child's play and I get it but from the perspective of the "one in charge" it isn't.
Where do you draw the line? It's ok to lie to a teacher about doing something they both knew was wrong is the message you don't want to send. I'd let it go at telling your child not to do things that she has to lie about later. (ie:ashamed of)

Tell the teacher that's what you did. Call it placing the first stone in a bridge. A 20-day one but why start a new battle so close to the "freedom day"?

It's really important to teach the kid a certain lesson and she's trying apparently.
LET the teacher do it at school and then you correct HER work at home. lol
That's how it worked for me anyway.

I am pretty sure I didn't like my daughter's first grade teacher in 1992. My wife hated her. I'll ask if she even remembers that witches name. See how irrelevant it is in the grand scheme of things?
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.
