The decision has already been made to upgrade. I just want to keep this PC because it's my dumping ground for all the duck hunting pics. I have several thousand shots.
Also have some bad PC habits. Cleaning up is something I never do. Pretty sure my "recent downloads" file is needing dumped. It would be fun to go thru and see all the crazy pics I dloaded simply to upload and forget about.
That is why my PC is slow I think.

Get a couple thumb drives, and put all of your pics on there. Honestly, it's a better idea than keeping them solely on a computer, anyway. You could back up all the pics you have for probably less than $20.

Fuck, then I have to sort them and most importantly remember where I but my thumbs.
Nothing is permanent. They keep inventing "less permanent" ways to store out pictures.
I have a picture album from 1973. Polaroids and they outlasted anything else I tried saving.

We're only fooling ourselves with this computer permanence. The thing is...I don't need electricity to look at my 1973 polaroids.

One day they'll decide the internet is counterproductive and not healthy for our society. We'll wake up and it's gone. Illegal.
There are science fiction movies made before the internet that oddly enough predicted this.
Science fiction has turned into science fact many times in my lifetime.

I'm not too worried about how fast my pc works. It works. That's what matters.
It will die one day. I know that too. Kinda looking forward to that.

To lure out all the experts and discuss internet speed.
I had a feeling the problem is the PC and is not related to internet speed at all. I think we have pretty well figured that out.
The reason is to try and convince myself we're not wasting money replacing a 7-yr-old pc. I think we covered that too.
Just because the problem isn't resolved to your satisfaction doesn't mean that progress has not been made.
I can't just run out and buy...

Clear all your internet temporary files

Do a disk cleanup

Do a defrag on the hard drive and schedule to do it automatically

Shut off and restart your computer and see if that speeds it up any
