I lost the "accident thread". Here's how the claims are going.

The black pickup was driven by a guy who borrowed the truck from a friend. The insurer of the black truck has both hands up with palms towards us waving frantically, NO, NO, NO we ain't paying despite there being signed documents by both the driver and passenger saying they thought they were at fault. HOW that happened is...reps from my daughter's insurance company went to see these guys and talked them into admitting they were at fault.

So the driver of the black truck says it was his fault. The insurance company is saying that the actual policy holder never called in to the company and added a "second driver" so they are released from any liability. In other words, don't lend your car to anyone without asking permission from your "company". They will cheat you out of a car if your borrower has an accident. Always ask the borrower to see his driver's license. Write down the number and call your insurance company. Tell them Jim is driving today and his DL# is...I suspect they'll try and talk you out of loaning your car to anyone.

Both drivers received tickets. The driver of the black truck went to jail because it is illegal to drive without insurance.
Remember when everyone was saying it was Zach's fault? It was...up until the fact that driver #3 had no insurance.

It's a clusterphuck. Two vehicles are effed up and NOBODY is liable. Premiums were paid, companies spent the money, and now they don't have to do a damned thing.

The wreck I had affected the way I drive. Hard to get me to hurry when I'm behind the wheel. I HUSTLE the rest of the time but get kinda slow in the truck. I love my truck and almost lost it once. Kinda wanna keep it. I see crazy drivers whippin in and out of traffic a LOT. That black truck...is one of the ones I see frequently. Kind of forgot to mention that I had nearly ran into the same truck a few times.
IMO those two guys deserve to be walking. The owner and the driver were the ppl in the truck that day.
What a SUCK deal...being a helpless passenger while your friend is wrecking your truck.
Then he gets arrested because your insurance aint no good.

I've gotten to "the rest of the story" and can't find the original thread.

This is kinda interesting if you drive a car.

Both drivers were at fault. Both were ticketed. My son-in-law was ticketed for failure to yield.
The other driver...not insured.

Zach's company got the uninsured driver to sign something that says he was partly at fault.

This all means that since it's Zach's fault their truck won't be getting fixed. They traded it off and got $2k for it. WHAT A RIPOFF. It was in a fender bender and ran. They drove it home.

The other truck will not be getting fixed because the other driver was uninsured and signed the paper saying he was at fault.

So it's BOTH their faults and nobody is responsible for anything. SWEET for the insurance companies involved.

I am fully insured until the company sees all them duck stickers on the truck and accuses me of commercial use with a non-commercial policy. Been there, done that.
Probably not such a good idea to put stickers with company logos onto your vehicles. I KNOW this one because I had to deal with it myself. Them insurance company lawyers are slippery basterds.

Sooner or later my truck is going to need front-end work.
At that time I will drive around LOOKING for someone to pull out into a clear "lane".
I will simply change lanes and HIT them. It's their fault. They failed to yield to all lanes of traffic.

By this definition I have to wait until a 4-lane road is clear both ways to pull out. Someone from the other side of the street might suddenly decide to turn and hit me. They might change lanes and hit me or just like I said in my "free-front-end-scenario".

This is going to slow things WAY down for the poor suckers behind me from now on. SORRY.

Here in Illinois, it does. No insurance means you are at fault because you should have never been driving in the first place. That's the catch. You WILL go to jail and you WILL pay a minimum of $500 in fines. It's the law. Sorry.

One of my very first auto accidents was not my fault until they found I was uninsured. I had to pay for some ladies car myself. This was in the 1980's. The lady ran into me at a stop light and was driving at night with her lights off. Didn't matter.
I wasn't even moving and it was my fault.
