Almost all the patches are from when he was a tank commander.

Hell on Wheels was only 2nd Armored Division. Those don't have a number on them, which is curious. Never seen one quite like that before. I've seen 1st (Old Ironsides), 2nd (Hell on Wheels) and 3rd (Old Ironsides), and pictures of some others, but never one without any unit designator. May want to check those out further. Might be worth something.

Looked up ww2 tanker patches and they all are bam...right there but digging to see whats what takes time.
Got it...773rd tank destroyers bat.
Those had to be his sons.
Both were tank commanders.

BTW I will be doing some practice long range shooting from sticks july 4th at my Uncles...last time he has be shooting at 440 yards.

Had grandpa make a copy of this one for me. It was Christmas Day when he got his first gun on his own. Stevens .410 bolt. He gave that gun to me, which I still have, and used when I first started hunting.

FS, all I know about TX is that is everything is bigger there and it never snows (hardly ever)
