Corn is planted around April germinating with in 5-12 days and haves is done by november depending on you area.
Looks like you will fit in just fine here! The Greenhorn forum is a good place to get questions answered, being new to duck hunting. The rest of the forums are great, but that is the one with only serious answers. Jump on in, you will learn a lot and meet some really interesting people here.
