True.

That means that it is time to go home. And dead ducks aren't as much fun to watch.

Plus, 6 is one shy of a limit for us.

Limits are only guidelines.

I had to pay $1075 for three over and no hunting for a year. Shoot all you can afford. Federal offense times three.

You got caught is all.

We tag out birds with poker chips so that the possibility of confusing our birds and having a "group" limit is an impossibility

We probably would if we were shooting one or two species for the entire hunt but its always a variety so I know what birds are mine. Otherwise the just go in my bucket i sit on.

In canada we are allowed to keep catch and release fish for a shore lunch.

What's wrong with keeping separate piles, Each person piling his own birds next to him? That seems to eliminate confusion. My dad and I don't group limit, but we have hunted with people who do. It really pissed me off when we took my neighbor and his kid, and not only were they claiming birds, (I had shot a limit, but only walked out with four ducks because our neighbor would say his son shot my birds. Allegedly 4 of them.) So then I quit shooting at birds, and guess who began to miss every shot? Yep. So his dad pick back up his gun, AFTER he had already shot his own limit, and finishes his sons limit for him.

There will always be those people. When i have someone claim my bird i just keep track. At their limit i say cool. You're done shhooting then right? Never goes over well.

Yeah but Karma bit the guy in the ass later in the trip. The guy was looking for a bird his son sailed (shot at like 60 yards, btw)
and his lanyard came apart and fell of his neck and he lost $400 worth of calls and 15 bands.

If everyone in a group stopped shooting when he was certain he'd killed his limit, but all the birds went in a pile without discussion and where they could not be seen again until hunt's end, it would be a hoot to see how many birds short most groups would be when all had limited out in their minds.

Just an observation from one who's heard a whole lot of claimin'. (And doesn't want to referee.)

Group limits. Ever hunt with a group of ten or twenty hunters? Most states that is not legal. It is normal in Arkansas timber.
Imagine a lone duck gets shot by a group like that. Deciding who killed it. If there is a band, everyone shot it. Group limits are the norm down there. Deal with it.
