99% of my hunting is done on public land and it's excellent. I rarely ever even see another hunter, and when I do,I usually know them quite well and there is usually lots of room and birds to go around. The other 1% is field hunting for geese and it's hit or miss.

Other then the occasional headaches dealing with the public. State and federal waterfowl refuges can provide some fantastic hunting opportunities. I mainly hunt public land on average two to three days a week. Once you learn the areas Limits aren't a surprise they are the norm.

First draw a decent reservation and examine the board that tells you what blinds or ponds shoot the best. This eliminates the need to scout or know anything other than how to get to the pond. 2. Bring the biggest shells possible, you got to get a crack at them before the pond next door does. 3. Have a loud call, you must call over everyone that's how you become top dog out there. 4. Work on your public land head nod, when you encounter another public land warrior a sub par head nod just won't do!
