Duck hunting gear reviews and questions.

Blind bag must haves.

Postby Olly » Tue Sep 03, 2013 10:13 pm

I'm eating restless for duck season and was going through my blind bag and was thinking about all the crap in there and what other people feel they must have in their blind bags.

I usually have

Flashlight
Shells
Calls
Small first aid kit
Some kind of snack
Small roll of TP
Knife
Maps or charts and Compass

These are things I always have in the bag and never come out expect when in use.

What are your basic must haves?

Sent from my phone.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

My blind bag is a $5 Walmart backpack. Box or two of shells, duck strap, snickers bar, bottle of water, thermos of coffee or monster.

That's what I was thinking. These guys must be taking those roller suitcases like my wife takes on a three-day weekend trip. For fuck's sake, it's the 21st century- stop watching so much Bear Grylls and acting like you're gonna have to live in a homemade cave for 60 days awaiting rescue.

Except for AK. He may very well have to do such a thing.

For me, it's a box of shells, call lanyard (if I remember it- if not, no biggie), two packs of smokes, a thermos of coffee, and two lighters.

And Rockstar, if I'm not running late, and have time to stop at the store without being in danger missing the lottery at the seashore.

Jesus Christ! Two lighters? Are you afraid you'll have to live in a cave for 60 days?

That's more stuff than he was going to use on Naked and Afraid.

I'm much too lazy to haul most of the stuff mentioned so far, but something not mentioned that this Southern boy keeps handy is a bottle of liquid Benadryl, just in case a tataille gets the dog or one of my party. Seems to work wonders when given quickly to dogs that are bitten, and if it's me who gets hit, I may chug the bottle.
