Tripods 2013 Dove hunt

Postby 3legged_lab » Sat Sep 07, 2013 11:01 pm

So I took my recent hunter education grad dove hunting today. We hit it hard, all damn day. Those little buggers were pretty picky and didn't respond to the decoys very well but we managed a few anyways. Cody even got his first dove, well he thinks he killed so I guess that's all that matters. They make a pretty good splat when they hit the plnd too.
Hopefully we get more than 7 tomorrow.

It was just him and I this morning and I passed on a handful of groups because I thought they were out of his range or a bad angle for him to try to shoot. We got 2 in the morning. My brother went with us this evening and we let him swat a single that landed in the decoys. Finished the day with 7 total between the 3 of us. Not as good as I thought it would be but still better that sitting on the couch.

I know where you were going with that, but the limit on dove is 10. These were Eurasian collared dove though.

His wife keeps confusing him on what is "big" and he relates that to everyday things.

Went to the sporting goods store and talked with the Avery rep - got 2 hats. Bought a seasoning mix for sausage and made goose breakfast sausage - came out pretty damn good. Even my picky eaters said they liked it. Also gonna try my hand at goose gumbo tonight.
A nap sounds awesome right now.
