If you want to go down that road almost all of the important celebrations in Christianity are based on pagan holidays and traditions. They did that so more people would become Christians.

The Easter Bunny didn't even really "exist" until around 1918. The town (actually Village) of Waterton, Connecticut was the first to "change" to the Easter Bunny as a way to lighten the mood. During WWI, much of the foodstuffs normally present on US grocery shelves had been shipped to France. Dying eggs had always been an Easter tradition (and still is), but chicken eggs had become a luxury item, due to the large majority of them being powdered and sent overseas for military use. The town, however, had many quail eggs- there's a large hatchery there still today- and they used them instead, as they were readily available. They were very small, and someone in the town, nobody knows who, referred to them as a "bunch of damn rabbit-looking eggs" because of their size. (People had been eating rabbit for a while, as well, as it was also readily available in the fields near the textile mills north of the town) And the name just sort of stuck, spreading from there. I blame the rest on marketing evil.

Explain the development/start of Christmas and Easter as a pagan holiday...

The modern English term Easter, cognate with modern German Ostern, developed from the Old English word Ēastre or Ēostre.[nb 2] This is generally held to have originally referred to the name of an Anglo-Saxon goddess, Ēostre, a form of the widely attested Indo-European dawn goddess.[nb 3] The evidence for the Anglo-Saxon goddess, however, has not been universally accepted, and some have proposed that Eostre may have meant "the month of opening" or that the name Easter may have arisen from the designation of Easter Week in Latin as in albis.[24][25]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter

That explains the name, not the holiday itself.

Christ rising from the grave (Easter) was not based on a pagan holiday. Also I don't think that Good chose to have Mary give birth to his son (Christmas) based on a pagan holiday...

The dates and how they are celebrated bro. The events happened and are true to Christianity. But how they are celebrated with modern Christianity are almost purely pagan. Modern Christianity started in the Middle Ages I believe. A long time after said events took place. I'm no bashing Christianity in any way. Please don't foe me over this.

I understand what your getting at now...the trees, stockings, eggs (quail eggs mind you), and whatnot. I thought that you were saying the tradition of the holidays were started with pagan beginings. I believe that they started as Christian holidays (boring for amny people - especially children), and were further developed with pagan rituals to keep more interested

What's wrong with that? Another common misconception is that you must go to church to practice a Christian religion...we might have a good topic for a new CI thread...
I've never heard that misconception. But going to church is just a place to go once a week to glorify God and learn his word. What's wrong with that?

No shit, real talk. They're round because it's physically impossible to drop them into the hole. They were briefly square, but a square lid can be dropped into a square hole, diagonally, but not a round lid into a round hole.

Because a circle of slightly larger diameter can't fall into a hole of smaller diameter, where as a square of larger size can still fall into a square hole that is smaller by turning it.
