Last ride

Postby RonE » Sat Sep 14, 2013 7:00 pm

Took my 1993 FXRS for my last ride this afternoon. Just rode around the neighborhood and reveled in the memories. I'll load it in the trailer tomorrow and head north to trade the bike and trailer for a duck hunting boat. I'll miss riding but having to continuously beat the chicks away was getting a little old.

Damn, I always thought of them as a snatch trap. You know, put something exciting between your legs.

What kind of boat are you trading it for?

The JPOS version of a Harley, for people who want a Harley but don't think they can afford one. I admit that jap bikes are smoother, faster, more dependable and probably 50 other categories of being better than a Harley but they are not and never will be made in America and no matter how good they are, will never be a Harley.

Are you saying that you like to run away from wimmin? Chicks dig Harleys and think other bikes are gay. Harley: "Put something exciting between your legs."

Im not a biker but watch plenty of bike week on tv, you may not necessarily always want the type of "lady" that's attracted to a Harley.

Interesting side note.

We had a guy on the boat last weekend who works security for big events in Milwaukee. The Harley 110th had just wrapped up and I asked him if any shots were fired.

He said you wouldn't believe it. Summerfest, the biggest music and beer festival in this hemisphere, is a giant pain in the ass, all of the cultural festivals in Mil every summer are a giant pain in the ass, Locust Street festival in inner city Milwaukee, only 9 stabbings this year. Fights, theft, drunken disorderly, you name it, they see it ever night during those festivals.

Harley 110th, not a single problem. Not one fight. Not one incident of drunken debauchery. Just a great time with great people. He said the biggest problem they had was the topless biker chicks wanting to take pictures with them.

I ride everyday to work and being in Austin traffic, I definitely wanted a cooling system besides the hot air I was breathing as well. I've never understood how you can sell a bike at top dollar even though the factory says the motor will burn up and have to be rebuilt every 20,000.

Actually I don't give a shit whether anyone rides a Harley or any other kind of bike but thought I had to hold up the tradition that most Harley owners seem to think is expected from them. Were I to ever get another bike it would be a Ducati. (A V-twin that is fast.)

As mentioned earlier, I have retired from motorcycles and plan on concentrating on duck hunting, fishing, drinking beer and chasing wimmin.

I absolutely LOVE the sounds of a twin. These 4 bangers are just whiney, but wringing their necks hitting corners at double+ the suggested speeds is a rush.

And being a tiny guy, I'm not going to get a big bike. I'd love a victory hammer, but my scrawny ass on one would just be ridiculous.

Never cared for sport bikes, I like to be comfy and cruise. My last bike was a Shadow with Cobra pipes , drag bars and lowered, nothing crazy but a nice ride. Had a ' 74 XLH1000 that was cool as fuck, after the other bikes was a terrible ride though. My Hondas were bulletproof bikes, 50,000 plus between then with no more than standard maintenance other than 1 coil for a old '73 CL 360.

May-October. I've stretched it before, and I can honestly say I've rode my bike every month of the year, but in reality that's about all we get.

(ok, I just recounted that and maybe it's 6 months, but it all depends on the weather)
