Vacation

Postby vincentpa » Sat Sep 21, 2013 2:06 pm

On my way to Spain. As we were driving to the airport, a massive storm hit. All flights were delayed. We were supposed to fly through Charlotte to Madrid. Then a three hour train ride to Salamanca. We were lucky. We were able to get a flight on Delta pittsburgh to Paris then to Madrid. It will mean 6 more hours of traveling but better than being stranded. It may get rough traveling with two two and a half year olds. So far do good. Having a few drinks at the bar now to kill time while my wife and mother in law are running after the girls.

Yes. My wife's aunt lives in Madrid. Her other aunt lives in Valladolid. My wife still has an apartment in Salamanca where her grandmother lives. Her grandmother turns 97 on October 2nd. We haven't been to Spain since before the girls were born, which means my mother in law hasn't seen her mother in three years. My girls are my wife's grandmother's first great grandchildren. I plan on eating and drinking very well.

I had to move from the bar. I thought I smelled poop. I asked Alessandra if she pooped in Spanish. She said no. I farted.

The flight to Paris got a little rough with my one daughter. Another child kept waking up screaming in turn waking my girl up. The other slept well.

Charles du Galle Airport is a national disgrace. First off, we had to disembark an international flight walking down the airplane stairs onto the tarmac. Then we had to climb two flights of stairs outside mind you to get to the terminal. Then we had to literally go up and down escalators and elevators at least five or six times. Them we waited an hour to have our passports checked. There were only three officers taking their sweet time. We get to a booth with two. The one is leaning back in his chair smoking an e cigarette. He ogles my wife up and down without shame. Says something in French to his coworker. Then he shamelessly looks my wife up and down. We're at the gate. We have to walk out onto the Tarmac to board the flight to Madrid. I can't wait to get the F out of France.

Well the fugging French fugged us again. We arrived in Madrid but our luggage didn't. My wife's family picked us up and after a crapload of calls, we found some of our luggage. We picked up two of our three bags later that night. Neither had my clothes. The delay caused us to miss the train to Salamanca so we had to spend the night in Madrid. Fortunately our other bag arrived the next day but after we had to depart on the train. My wife's uncle was able to pick it up for us.

After we got to Salamanca, we got to our apartment and my mother in law realized she forgot the fuggin keys to the place in Pittsburgh. Fugggggggg! We had to wait another two hours in the bar at the street level in her building. What a fugged up trip. Anyway, it's worth it. Here is a taste of Salamanca.

I will try to get a card for you. To get WiFi, I have to sit in the bar and drink drafts and eat tapas. I just downed some octopus and another of pig cheeks. Here is a photo of the Roman bridge over he rio Tormes built by the empower Trajan in the first century, more than 1900 years old. The statue is of a bull that predates the Romans of unknown age, more than two thousand years for sure.

This is the old city wall built on the old roman wall. You can see the different construction. The base is nice roman built. The top is Middle Ages. Salamanca traded hand three times between the Muslims and Christians during the reconquest. Notice the roman inscription in latin on the one drain. They were efficient enough to mark drains for service.

That's a glory hole, not a drain. The inscription says "insert penis here". Those Romans were perverts.

lol, when i looked at the writing the first thought I had was if it were my jobsite it would say something like "this is what xxxx's wifes binger looked like when i finished with her last night" no way do I believe those are service markings, construction guys are like alligators or gar pike, we have not evolved at all in the last 10k years
