So a game warden met us at the trucks as we paddled back. As Sam and I pulled onto shore I said "uh oh was opening day next Saturday?!" he didn't even crack a smile. He asked us how we did then said he'll need to just check our birds, license and stamps, at which point I hollared over to my buddy "Hey Casey, you got that goose?" (Goose season isn't open yet). Mr Green Jeans had no sense of humor bout that either. Do fish cops get lobotomies at fish school??

 that's funny.

Next time you see him talk his ear off. Ask lots of stupid question, just act like his buddy. Everytime he goes to leave - keep talking. He won't want to check you anymore.

There is a slight chance it could back fire though, if he's lonely.

I'd rather be a wise ass. He really didn't impede us much. Wasn't much of a talker. Just wanted to see our stuff and split

Another decent hunt today over lil Red. Finished with 10 mallards, 3 gadwall, 3 teal and 1 prized spoon. Boys had a great time.

I'm such a dumbass. I musta looked at the wrong date in the tide book. Thought low tide was 0540. Turns out it was 0740. Got there at 6. Put out blocks and by 7 I realized I was wrong on the tide. Decoys were sitting in mud.

Took the boys down the slough about 300 yards to a curve where the deep channel runs close to the levee to do alittle pass shooting. Dropped a teal and a mallard before the fog lifted and I realized we were sitting 100 from another group of hunters. So we decided to head back to the truck and go grab a quick breakfast and wait for the tide to come back up. So here I sit, eating a country skillet.

After breakfast we headed back out to the blind and 30 minutes later we dumped one teal. Very slow morning
