I've used line too.

That's too high tech for bank fishing. Unless you use one of these....

To hell with bank fishing. Then again, I'm not much on freshwater pole fishing. I'd much rather run nets.

Your missing out on loads of fun. Nothing like fighting rattlers, water moccasins, cockle burs, and green briars to catch some "limp wristed" crappie.

I do it in a boat during pre spawn in deep water. Not gonna lie, I typically go put out some nets in the middle of the schools/runs and wait until night check them and take a limit of 2-4lbers home. And yes true 2-4lbers, it's 3" webbing and it takes one at least 2lbs to get caught.

Badass. Never have messed with gill nets but if its like trot lines that's too much work for some damn fish.

Way easier, no bait involved. It is work but it's fill your freezer amounts of fish. Most I ever got was 1600lbs, cat and buffalo.

Do you eat buffalo? I've always thrown those things on the bank and walked off. Caught a nice one last year.

Yes, but I sell most of them. On the buffalo keep the ribs, the bones are big enough and they're meaty. Good flaky white meat, you'd be surprised.

Hmmmm, Sounds like its worth a try. I tried to clean a gar last year and that ended up being a damn mess.

I don't do gar. Tried several times, several different ways, it has a strong taste kind of extra fishy and gamey mixed together. Not for me.

I couldn't hardly get the thing cut open, damn near stuck the knife threw my hand. Decided it probably wasn't worth my time.

I tried to just gut it from the get go and then planned on trying to skin it. I've heard/seen on tv that they have "backstraps" on them and that's what I was after.

That's pretty much what it's like. If I sell em dressed(cleaned) they are hulled out and cut into steaks.
