Shotguns and coyotes

In MI we have to use rimfire or shotgun with shot smaller then buckshot to hunt at night. So my question is will lead F shot work on them? Heavier than lead shot is kinda outa my budget. I'll be hunting mostly thick woods where visibility is less than 100 yards.
I feel a shotgun will be better then a .22 with the brush and night time shooting. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Last Coyote we killed was with #6 steel shot while we were duck hunting I believe that lead BB or BBB should work just fine.

I've read of buffered buckshot can take you to 70. Trick is the buffer to keep the pattern together. Still wanting to play with that one some.

He's been loading 00buck as well, has a 3" load with 12 pellets going 1250, it's devastating

He's not making any shot, we got a bunch at a garage sale. Been loading with and without buffer, like them better without so far. Best patterns (for the 00) have been using a gas seal and a Teflon wrap, no wad at all

That's awesome. Shot one 3x with lead 5 at 35 yards and it made a hell of a racket and I'm sure it died somewhere. Never found it though.

Got any starting points for me as far as loads go. Powder...shot...wads. What am I looking for as far as pattern density. From what I found online they say 3-5 pellets in a 10" circle.

Wish I did. Have only read at this point. Some used wads that they cut the pedals off of, same as jr with the gas seal, mainly to make it fit easier I believe. The factory loads I have use a Cheddite 2.75 and a bpi wad that's real common. Can't think of wad name right now. I was looking at casting wheel weights that seems to be common practice. Haven't convinced myself fully to try it or exactly how to go about casting them properly.

Starting to wonder what you don't have that pertains to reloading. Will pick up some blue dot on next trip to gun shop.

I'm trying to decide between BB and F. Some of the coyotes around here are some big mean bastards. Think I'm going to start with F and see how the patterns turn out.

I have some 3" #4 Buck loads that will shred pups to 60 yards.
