Dedicated hunting truck

Postby 3geese4me » Fri Oct 04, 2013 1:36 pm

If you could have a dedicated hunting truck, what kind of gadgets would you have installed? I'm thinking about ripping the carpet out of an older truck and spraying in a spray in bedliner. Cubby holes for blind bags and vertical racks for gun storage as well.

I would use a late 70's early 80's Bronco with a full size mattress in the back instead of a seat so that I could put together MILF's if hunting was slow.

I'd want a fullsize blazer or maybe suburban. a big pull out drawer in the back with two dog boxes on top of that. Taking out the carpet is a good idea. I wouldn't go to crazy because it will probably end up trashed anyway

My truck is full-time dedicated to hunting. Stock Dodge Ram Bighorn works pretty well. Arkansas dirt roads are hell on vehicles no matter what you drive.

As unpredictable as the weather in Michigan.

It looks like regular dirt to me. The ice and snow possibly could be though.

The dirt roads in Arkansas are made out of shard of rock, not gravel. Pointy bits of rock and sand...very fine gritty stuff that tears up wheel seals and bearings. I go thru tires and will be replacing every bearing several times before my truck is done. 60k now. I plan on having that dodge a long time. I only put about 7-10k a year on it if that...

2005, 151,000ish on it. Headgasket was done right before I bought it around 130,000.

Be warned, if you buy a subaru with a 2.5 litre engine, the headgasket will go at some point. Other than than that, they are fantastic and reliable.

I already looked into that, had my bro price out parts and machine shop, dad would help me do the work. Was one on C-list today, tried to contact but got no reply.
