I literally just came up from a Trauma with 4 different guys who were in a gunfight.

I am guessing that the 9mm is probably the most deadly pistol round and the .45acp the second most deadly if judged by body count alone. Both pistol rounds were also popular as sub machine gun rounds. I would bet money that the .357 mag doesn't even come close to the deadliest handgun round when body count is considered.

Keeping in mind that both rounds were used in WWI, WWII and continue to be used today.

as far as MURDERS, .22 has the highes body count. its the preferred round of the mob.

Mob hits pale in comparison to the number of Jews killed by the Germans in WWII with the 9mm.

Look closer at what I typed. And I wasn't only talking about mob hits.

.22 is still not even on the same page as the 9mm and .45acp. As far as murders, since when, last year? Murders where? Here in the US or world wide? Where is it written that it is the preferred round of the mob?

Just think about the shear number of 22 pistols and rifles. They are everywhere, cheap, and widely used by gangs and thugs. I will see if I can find the link I read a while back. I need to get to a computer first though.

The .45 has special purpose...meant to take out a HORSE.
9mm and .357 are very close to the same diameter but the .357 has way more powder, is longer, and has more punch. 38 special is close...
My argument is that the .357 will not go right thru a human but...a .45 will.
Stopping the bullet is what gives 'shock' and that kills quickly.
9mm is a good choice but much less power.
Go buy some ammo and compare...

uh, may want to double check that Betty. 230 gr. .45 ball has a slow velocity, high 700s to low 800's, depending on the manufacturer. .45 ACP was meant to stop a human.

Betty, you are talking out of your ass. While 357 is more potent than. 45, a 38 is no where close, and bullet size don't mean shit. JMB designed the 45 as a WAR cartridge, that is, war with humans, not horses. Even with ball ammo, 45 has less of a chance o over penetration than a 9mm because its soo slow. MT is right.

After some intense googling, I found very few articles saying 22 is the leading caliber of DEATHS. My bad in that. But in everything I read, 22 was in the top 3 ( usually behind 38spcl and 9mm) for guns used in crimes. Somehow, my head mixed and matched what I had read over the last few years.

But saying that 22 is much much less than any other caliber in crime I just ignorant. From this research I found that they are confiscated from criminals very frequently. Jut do a google search.

Oh and most of those stats are world wide.

And yes, hit men and assassins seem to prefer a quiet little 22 over Any other round. I even found one page saying pellet guns are being used for special operations.....
