Maybe take Dan's offer.

I'm still trying to decide if he's serious, or if I'll get a photo bombed cock pic.

You'll get something for free either way...

Won't be any worse than the shit you get on google searches when looking for something for here.

I'm afraid to click on that image. I'm squinting, and looking slightly away, as if that will help.

If you're serious, I'll certainly take it for a test run. Trade you some deer jerky. I'll send you a pic of the jerky if you want.

It's been sitting on a shelf in the closet in my gun room for at least 4 years.
Might as well see if you can use it to get lost.

BETTY

Postby Willie » Sun Jan 19, 2014 9:01 pm

Assa, I have an Etrex legend, older unit, and a DeLorme PN-40. The DeLorme is 100x the GPS as far as extra cool shit it'll do. The Etrex does everything I basically need as far as navigating, but really because I spent some extra $ and loaded the marine charts on it. Straight out of the box, the good charts were not on it. The DeLorme came with the charts preloaded and also with a nice topo program.
Whatever route you go, for your area, I'd make sure to get the right charts and then go out in the daylight, turn on the track mode and run your course and create the route to follow in the dark. Once you run it once and it's in the unit, you should be golden.
By the way, these are both handheld units that I use on my Jon boat.

I think you'll like that explorist. Just use it a little to learn it and you'll be good. That's why I started doing the geocaching, turned out to be a nice little family hobby.

I find google earth to be more helpful than my gps most times. You can see the deep areas, the gravel bars, and points and cuts along the shore. And it puts a little blue dot right where you are.

this is true water is natures most powerful force. You don't realize how much bodies of water change unless youre out there constantly. Especially rivers. Hell one of the lakes I hunt has gone up a good ten feet since season started. There was probly 30 ft of exposed shore and now the water is up to the wood line.

It changes, but not enough to matter that much. They updated the shoreline I hunt in like September this year, so It was sweet. Everything was exact.
