Counting down the days, and hit it hard the last three. Took Friday off to get an extra day of hunting, and spent the morning scouting. Found the birds piled up in one of our local bays, cut several bundles of cane, and set up where most of them were sitting. Killed two Gadwalls in the first 5 minutes, then the wind changed and started to blow hard out of the West. Conditions for hunting were better, but the birds changed patterns and pulled the typical Gadwall "light out in the middle of the bay and draw all incoming birds" crap! Water was too low to boat over and bust up, so we ate a little aggravation, killed 2 more birds before sundown and headed in. Saturday morning we started cutting blind material around 10 a.m. Got a call from a buddy that was getting some action, and he asked us if we wanted to join them in a nearby blind. Headed out and got set-up nearby (6 dz gadwall dekes), and within 20 minutes, wind completely changed direction, started blowing hard from the South, and changed the pattern of the birds. After an hour of no action, picked up dekes and headed North, settling in a somewhat calmer area. Had birds dropping into the decoys within 5 minutes, and had action most of the afternoon. Should've had a limit, but ended the day with 10 Gadwalls.

Back out Sunday midmorning, and it was about as bluebird as it can get. No duck movement at all, and after a few hours of aggravation, said screw it, picked up, and headed home to watch some football. Looking forward to next weekend, our last of the season. It has been a struggle here to kill birds this year, but I have been fortunate enough to have had a pretty good season. Bird count for the season passed 125 this weekend, so I cannot complain, but hoping to kill a few more before it's over!
