Is that LED light bar you got something that could be put on a vehicle, or is it not bright enough?

I know nothing about them, but I'm going to be making my bumper soon, and am looking for ideas for some super bright lights, without spending hundreds on HIDs or big bulky KC Hilites type things.

Yes it's perfect for a vehicle and I think that's the number one use for them. The off road market.

What size did you get olly? Is it bright enough, or would a bigger one be a lot nicer?

I got a 14" bar and it's very bright. They make them up to around 50".

Olly, the spot/flood capability- is it something controlled from a rocker switch, or does it need to be changed directly on the light? For example, could I put a three way rocker switch on my dash, and have access to both, or is it an either/or proposition?

the ones I saw in eBay were just set spot/flood combo. The outside 1/4 of the light bar was flood and the middle was spot.

I guess I better pay attention, because I'd like one like Olly has, with the two different settings. That is, if I can control them from inside the Jeep.

Olly probably took it apart to make it also be a camera to record his travels thru the night, and installed 5 switches in the process

Mine only has one setting. But it has two different lens types. The outer most LEDs are flood and the inner ones are spot.

Oh, ok. I saw the two pics you posted, and thought they were different. In that case, I think I'm looking at the right ones.

I'm thinking the 44" 240W would be what I want. I'd hate to get one and be disappointed in the light output.

I can tell you that 14 is bright as hell. Multiply that by 4 and holy hell that would be bright.

I want it for hunting. I have to drive on the beach to get to some of the blinds, and at 5 am in a drizzle in January, it's darker than a well digger's ass out there on the sand. I want bright.

The led lights are insane bright. They make pure white light though. Not much color is reflected so it's like black and white just extra bright.

Them lights are cool as fuck as long as your are BEHIND them.

Did you order from the ones that say "please include your phone number, in case Customs or the delivery service need to get ahold of you?" SHit like that always makes me nervous.

I get at least 2 packages from China a month and I've never seen that.

I just ordered a flashlight also from China, and it was no biggie. Seems like more than a few of them have a statement to include your phone number with the order, so the delivery company can contact you, and a disclaimer that you may owe customs on the item, but they'll put a lower declared value on the package than the purchase price.

(And by the way, that flashlight is badass. Especially for $20)

I've bought a lot of stuff from China in the past. I've never had to leave my number, but did have one package held by the post office.

Customs opened it, determined a value, and decided I needed to pay a customs fee before I could receive it.

Damnit Olly, I was just about ready to be done with my boat and now I feel like I have to order a pair of 12". The 4 55 watt lights I have on the boat now just aren't cutting it.
