Football or More Duck Hunting?

So I am conflicted this year with a choice. I could start duck hunting a whole hell of a lot more, or I can play football this year and duck hunt about the same amount I did last season. I know for sure I won't even try to go on and play football after high school, and I am probably not playing my senior year. So what do you guys think?

D&B only you can make this decision but I will say this. How much do you like to play football? If it's important to you and you enjoy it I wouldn't give it up. once high school is over you will more then likely never play the game again, once it's over you can't go back.

However hunting is something you will be able to do for the rest of your life.

If it's not that important to you then give it up and hunt but give it some thought.

That is part of where the problem lies, football is something that I really enjoy doing, but hunting feels like more than that. I would honestly pursue a career in hunting if that was a realistic goal. The reason I am not playing football my senior year, because of a hunting opportunity I may never see again. The conflict this year comes because my dad wants to go on a week long duck hunt, but since I have football we'll have to wait until after football season and the duck hunting will slow way down after October where we want to go on the hunt.

Since you asked the question ...it means you ain't cut out for duck hunting. A true hunter would hunt and never ask if he should go play football.

Boot said everything I could. I don't like sports much, so it was a no brainer for me in high school. I hunted a ton and don't have regrets that I should have played sports. But if you really enjoy football, this is probably the last chance you'll have for the rest of your life to the the game.

Buddy you only have a couple more years of football. You should enjoy yourself. You have the rest of your life to hunt ducks. Then agian if it was me. I couldn't handle losing any of my hunting season. :mrgreen:

I didn't play my senior year. Did a ton of hunting that fall. Don't worry about your friends, friends are overrated. You won't talk to any of them after high school anyway. I talk to exactly one person from high school, and its because we hunted together.

I was a pretty good player but I was sick of us getting our heads stoved in by the perennial D1 state champs and all the other big Milwaukee schools in our conference. I joined the swim team that winter and had more fun than I ever did playing football.

The one thing I've noticed here is they get roughly 75-125 kids on the team, where everyone pays their dues and everyone works hard at practice etc. then it comes to the games and only 25 out of those 100 kids play the whole season yet everyone paid their fees and did the work. That's why I never will play football and the reason I quit basketball.

Football...it's one of the coolest things I did in high school. Played basketball and lacrosse too. Had plenty of time for hunting, fishing, girls, etc.
Figure out how to manage your time better and you too can do it all. Go on the weeklong trip with your dad after the season. Big deal if the bird #'s are less. It's not about the killing when hanging out with Pops...

My guess is Dan would understand whether his kids should be playing or not, prob only be upset if they did not work hard or attempt to make themselves better. By quitting you proved that you did not really want to play, no big deal, that is more than likely why you weren't good enough to play either.

RMFC...prepare for some knowledge to be dropped on you.
Champions and winners bust ass all day, every day, not just a couple months during a season. Those who want that starting position, whether it be football, soccer, shooting, screwing, real life job, etc. work hard every day to stay ahead of the competition.
You get up early to beat the jack legs to the duck hole, am I right? You practice your calling, shooting, work on your duck decoys in the offseason to get ready for next season, am I right? Take that mindset and apply it to everything you do, and you won't be so quick to quit next time.
Rehab is for quitters...don't be a quitter, RMFC.
