Where were you diving in Mendocino County? I lived in Point Arena and on The Sea Ranch and used to dive at least once a week in the season, sometimes 3-4 times a week. That was when the limit was 4 per day and no total, two years later is was 4 a day with 100 a year. I understand that it is 3 per day now and 32 abs a year (I might be wrong).

I dove for abalone in Southern California before they closed everything south of San Francisco.

That isn't me, just a video from Youtube. But, when I dive it's usually around Fort Bragg. It was something like 32 a year quite a few years ago I think, but like 4 or 5 years ago they made these booklets full of tags, and made it 25 per year. This year they just updated it to 18 per year.
