A buddy used to say "a hundred years ago a $20 gold piece would get you drunk, a nice room and a good whore. It'll still do that"

what he meant was a hundred years ago a $20 gold piece was worth $20 and you get get all those goods and services for $20. Now that same coin is worth $2000 and can still buy the same goods and services. Think about it.

Imagine how good the duck numbers would be though if every duck hunter took the season off for just one year.

You wouldn't even notice a difference in duck numbers if every hunter took off next year. We're a drop in the bucket, statistically speaking.

My intent is to start a huge debacle... I mean debate here.
. In 2009, a population survey by the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife showed an increase in canvasbacks from 488,000 to 662,000, after a hunting ban on the birds during the 2008-'09 waterfowl season.
So that's like what? A 36 percent increase? From one closed season.

Improved conditions on their breeding grounds.

From government money no doubt.

Without a doubt it has helped, but weather and habitat is still the main factor. Have seen the same studies with quail, with similar conditions, after 7-10 years #s were similar in areas with hunting compared to the areas of not hunting. And I have seena hen mallard get gang raped, it is a violent throw down.

I occasionally feel bad for our hens in the yard. The three roosters just walk around and rail them all day long. They try to run, they get dragged down by the back of the neck.

Although we have one who has been named "The Whore", because if a rooster gets within 10 feet of her she lays down and jacks her ass up in the air.

That sucks if they actually increase it. For people who don't hunt but 1-2 times a year, I'll be looking at spending 20 for state, 25 for federal, 2 for hip and 15 for state waterfowl. All to hunt one day? Fuck that.

Kansas doesn't charge me for HIP.

Maybe instead of increasing the stamp fee they can just use the money that they saved not paying all those duckfuckers during the shutdown.
