After I got my shoulder operated on back in the Army, they told me I'd have arthritis "sometime in the future". Apparently, "sometime in the future" was about a year and a half ago. Every few months, usually weather related, it hurts like a bastard for a week or so, feels like my bones are in a microwave, getting ready to explode. I generally can't sleep for more than 15 minutes at a time or so, so will try almost anything.

An old guy told me about this stuff, said it works. So I got some this morning.

Just got out of a boiling hot shower, which helps, too, and put a bunch of this shit in my shoulder and neck.

Mooooooootherfucker, it was horrible. I kept running back to the mirror to check, because I would've swore that my skin was blistering off. My skin wasn't even red, somehow, but had be walking circles through the house, waving a t-shirt above my back, yelling WHAT THE FUCK at nobody.

It's been about 15 minutes, and it's just a tingle now. The good news is, it worked almost instantly. The bad news is, I don't know if I'm man enough to ever put it on again. It's 1% capsaicin, so would be ideal for practical jones. Makes Icy Hot seem like a nice relaxing dip in a heated swimming pool. No shit. Stuff is no joke.

Been using that stuff on my lower back off and on for years, and learned real quick about washing hands, several times afterwards Best to use a latex glove if possible, but if not, wash the hell out of your hands. In the past, I had tried Ben Gay and Tiger Balm, and the Capzasin gave me more relief than the other two, good stuff!

just bought some of this stuff since I've felt like i was hit by a truck for the last 3 days, holy shit is it good! it didn't immediately feel like i had anything on, but after a few minutes it felt like i was in a scalding hot pot of water. definitely agree on it putting icy hot to shame, i like just hot-hot better anyway.

Those sons of bitches operated on my back and didn't tell me about arthritis later in life. I had bone chiseled out of my hip for a spinal fusion of my lower vertebrae. The bone donor site hurts like a bitch when the weather turns ugly. Worst part of the deal is the fusion didn't take it wall all for nothing.

They make a cream of ibuprofen in Europe. It works way better than the pills and its localized. I forgot to buy a tube he last time I was over there. I won't forget the next.

I initially went to the doc thinking I was having a heart attack because the pain radiated down my left arm into my shoulder and down into my chest. An EKG showed no signs of heart trouble which was a relief, but pretty much means I get to deal with the pain for the rest of my life. I have a high tolerance for pain as long as I know what is causing it so I'll deal with it, but I will give this a shot too.

I can't very well run to the doctor every 3 months screaming for oxys, and I'll die if I keep taking this much ibuprofen and aleve, so need to find something, and people swear by this stuff. First dose a couple hours ago, next dose coming up in a bit.

I googled it earlier, found it at some Canadian place, which claims they'll ship to the states. But I still worry about wrecking my liver. No shit, until this morning, I was putting down about 5,000mg a day, on top of 3 or 4 aleve. Keep looking in the mirror to see if I'm turning yellow.

Get bloodwork done. When my back was hurting me at its peak, I was taking pain meds with Tylenol and all kinds of other shit. My liver enzymes shot up in one test of bloodwork. It scared the shit out of me. I had to stop taking Tylenol products but NSAIDs were ok to take. After a few months, my liver enzymes returned to normal with no lasting effects. If your liver numbers are good in your bloodwork, you're fine. I'd say the localized ibuprofen cream wouldn't be as detrimental anyway because your body would not see a big concentration of the medicine like a pill gives you.

Tiger Balm is good but it's just an analgesic.

Maybe just psychosomatic, but it seems to be working great. No ibuprofen after about 9 yesterday morning, I slept all night for the first time in over a week, and right now it's barely a dull ache. Pretty impressed.

Assa, if you ever go to a doctor, ask about meloxicam. I've got arthritis in my neck and shoulder and a fucked up hand that was broken and not fixed. The doctor that prescribed it for me said it's a better alternative than all those others that kill your liver. It works real good for me but, I hate taken shit for pain too much. When I'm losing sleep from the pain, then I'll take it for a week or so.
