Stupid hunting video

Postby Tiler_J » Sun Mar 09, 2014 6:24 pm

I was playing on YouTube and came across this video. Hunting Buffalo. Decided to watch it and to be honest I skipped a lot of it because it is stupid! It pisses me off that they call this "hunting"! And that they even posted this stupid video on YouTube. If you don't want to watch the video I'll sum it up. Imagine walking out into a field of cattle and picking one and shooting it with a bow, repeatedly. There is no "hunting" involved. It would be like going to the local park and shooting all the ducks in the pond there and calling it "duck hunting". Hate these idiots!

I saw the same thing in TV one time. It was a hunt on Kodak Island I think and basically they bought one and then we're allowed to shoot it. Stupid.

That shit makes me sick. Might as well go out into a field and shoot a cow.

They did to. Pulled it out in a sled behind a utv.

Yea then he would have had to shot it 8 times instead of 4. Although he did miss once, displaying his awesome knowledge of bow hunting.

If someone wants to go shoot a buffalo with a bow like that it's fine by me, I have no problem with that. The part I do have a problem with is claiming to be a hunter because they did that. Would be like a rancher saying he's a hunter because he slaughters his cows.

I'd do it in a heartbeat but I'm not going to film myself walking to within 20 yards of it, shooting it with my bow, and then boast about how great of a hunter I am. There would be no satisfaction there, only death and food.

I hear you. Personally, I've never tried to walk up to a buffalo and shoot it with a bow. No clue what it takes.

They're supposed to be wild buffalo? They acted nothing like the wild buffalo we were hunting. They didn't even spook after being shot, I'm calling BS on that. Pretty funny they said "we're bringing 'em down from the mountain" as they drug him behind the UTV, that they drove right to him to take the shot. If you look close between shots, you can see the shadow of the rig and a small piece of the tire. He literally just drove up and barely stepped out to shoot it.
Looks like a hunt in Texas, if it weren't for the snow. :D
Makes you wonder if they had to shake a coffee can full of grain to "call" them in.

I was just about to say this. I mean who cares if you shoot it with a bow or with a gun to get it in the fryer but don't claim it's hunting.

I have no problem with the guys shooting a tame Buffalo. It's just not "Hunting" in my opinion. Then with all the stupid, nice hunt, great shot bullshit at the end. I found it very irritating.

There use to be an add in the back of a couple hunting magazines for guided buffalo hunts. I looked it up one time. It cost a couple of thousand for the couple day hunt, they basically guaranteed you a buffalo. Once you shot your "wild buffalo", you got to keep the head and the hide. If you wanted any meat, they would sell it to you at the current market price per pound. Stupid hunt if you ask me, but really smart ranchers. Get people to pay to kill the animals that they were going to kill anyway.

If he had walked up to the buffalo and bashed it's head in with a sledge hammer, he might have a claim to something.

Have to admit I didn't watch the videos, but having the rest of the herd standing around munching grass without a care while they took hero shots, as shown on the second embed, just had to wilt our hero's stiffy.

So you missed the part where after taking his 30 yard shot they walk up to the animal, the camera man is already behind to get the hero shot of a hunter and his kill and the animal is still moving. They bend down and look at the animal and then talk about some ancient Indian ceremony that they must perform over the buffalo. As they are performing the ceremony the hunter is straddling the head and rubbing the back of the animal. The animal starts to move, right before they cut to a different scene. Wish they would have left that part in.

Knew a girl in college who worked Summers at Grand Teton(?) National Park and told of a tourist who stopped with his family and took photos of them standing in front of a big bull buffalo that just lay there minding his own business while they did. Or at least he just lay there until the tourist decided to kick him to get some standing shots and got what he so richly deserved.
