Even if you miss a spoonie, they assume they've been hit and fall.

Merganser teased the decoys 3 times. On the 4th time coming in, I said "F it, you dead". Dog wouldn't even eat it.

Spoonies were fine, no bad taste at all...

Lol. Up in Canada I dropped a merge and my buddies dog walked out to it, sniffed it, and walked back to shore. I had to do the walk of shame out and back with it. I get back to my point and my buddy yells over "What'd you get?"
"Oh... Nothing"

Never see mallards over the ocean. Maybe it was spoonies?

We have several spot where we kill mallards and gadwall on the ocean. During actual winters, unlike what we had last year, we saw hundreds every day in the marsh. Typically once the assateague refuge freezes over the hunting gets much better.

I see lots of mallards over towards muddy hole, but I've never seen one in the coastal bay. Not saying they're not there, not by a long shot. I think all the blacks run them off.

The key word of my previous post was ice. When the refuge freezes that means the farm ponds do to sending all the birds to the salt marsh. If we get a long hard freeze they move on, but the shooting is good before then.

Speaking of ice, some days I love it, some days I hate it. I hunt the west side of the island, and when the wind blows out of the west, it pushes all that slush ice over from the mainland. But if I can get a good freezing day with an east wind off the ocean, pushing all that ice over the bay, the birds pile up where I hunt like nobody's business. Nothing worse than fighting the ice for three hours, then driving over the bridge only to see thousands of birds frolicking in the open water behind people's houses. Drives me nuts.

Its worse when you have to go through all that work just to watch hundreds of birds pile into impoundments that some rich bird watch made. They dont care for me a whole lot on the first morning fresh water has sheet ice over it. :D

I've dated a couple of girls with bigger lips and brown skin. Does that count for a spoonie?

It's a verb. "To spoon" does not mean "to cuddle", as most people take it to mean, when I and some others use it. It may be conjugated in any way you wish.

It was an accident. I have throngs of pictures of pure limits, though.

I like this idea. I could get a price quote from the guy I use for the shirts at the shop. His price drops with each unit. We just need the image data.

My limit of ducks from my horrible monday morning shoot. It was windy and rainy and the ducks were flying.
Found out this year-
1. I can't hit a duck in the wind
2. The new decoys that my club bought and rigged are easier to pick up, because they don't have enough weight and blow across the pond into a pile on the edge
3. It is a law that when you have to put your gun down to pee, ducks will swarm the blind and leave as soon as you are done
4. When your gun breaks, ducks know. I could have shot 2 limits after it broke, they were all over me as I wandered back to the truck to get my backup gun
5. Spoonies will always be there for you when you just want to get your limit and go home.

What a limit! All brown. Damn gadwall ruined my perfect hen spoony limit.
