Thanks bud! Next one is on the wall for sure. We jumped a farm pond and I got the crappy end of the stick on that one. I had a chance at one hen widgeon and whiffed. As my buddies came back birds in hand that teal made the mistake of flying back over in range. I busted him and he went down deAd center of the pond. No boat, no dog, well over my waders. I took a January swim in Oregon in my skivvies for that bird. One of my best waterfowling memories.

I know someone who went hunting in one of the spots I hunt and shot 4 drake cinnamon teal and skinned them all out and ate them because he assumed they were very common there, (He hadn't been hunting tat spot for very long) and thought he would get a chance to shoot better looking ones. He has never seen any others.

Seeing fully plumbed bluewings really makes me consider a pellet gun. Haven't seen anything else that made me want to do that.

Hold out for one with a mullet. One of my hunters had just said he'd like to mount a pair of bluewings when this one came by:

Actually to get fully plumed drake teal you often have to wait until mid to late February, long after the regular season is over. In that case, it is no longer hunting, but rather "Collecting" and you might consider yourself exempt from the regular constraints and use 7.5 lead trap loads to insure that you don't mess the specimen up too badly. Good luck!

Allegedly I'll be using a pellet gun. Fuck messing with a shotgun and risk messing it up.
