Speaking of interviews, AT, this is me and my dog a few weeks ago. I wanted to alleviate any remaining doubts as to exactly how stupid I can be! I didn't call the FD, though. I was still going for it but a neighbor saw me and called.

Almost. $45. I looked everywhere this morning and can't find those ****.

Six packs of smokes for 45$? That's not bad. The cheap ones here went up to almost 12$ a pack in December. That was it for me.

$12 A PACK!!!! I'd quit and take up junk, it'd probably be cheaper! I remember as a kid getting them out of cigarette machines for 35 cents a pack! Where do you live that they are that price?

 I said the same thing about heroin. Pesky little habit, but we all deserve one vice I guess! Grandma's been doing it for 60 years and she's doing fine. At least I think she is. She's been asleep the last couple of years.

 Holy cow! I assume there are not a lot of smokers in Canada.
****Actually I just looked it up. There are almost identical percentages of smokers in Canada and the US. Pretty wild and an interesting comment on price vs consumption.

Cigarette machines? 35 cents a pack? We may as well be from two different worlds . Up here they got rid of the last machines right about the time I started sneaking into bars, and they were about 8$ a pack then. 6$ is the cheapest I can remember.

Holy shit 12 a pack? At some point it'd be cheaper to fly to some country in Asia where they're still 40 cents a pack and smuggle them back in.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

That was me, buddy. I had never gone down that particular trail, and it started winding upwards and turning first into a deer trail, then into a, well, cliff. Plus the bluffs were still pretty moist from rains a few days before, so my little trees wouldn't hold in the ground. Now, had I any sense I would've decided early on this was a fool's game and simply retraced my steps. But Noooooo. I got it in my head that I was on a mission and had met a challenge. Pretty much a Don Quixote frame of mind. Well, I tackled that challenge....and it kicked my ass!
Thanks though...everything turned out fine, and all the FD and rescue guys got a kick out of it! Especially my dog. I got a ride back to my vehicle with a FD Lt., and as he drops me off he says "Before you take off let me get a picture." Humbly, I say OK and go to stand there for the picture. He says "No, not you. Your dog!"

That's what I always wondered, fc. Why smuggle it in when you could make it right there? If they can do it in prison they can do it in Alaska!

I always wear my seat belt on a plane after a few bad experiences and my one colleague regaling md of the time he bumped his head when his plane hit a patch of wind shear.

I quit smoking for good five years ago. I was never a heavy smoker cept when I drank or did drugs. Quitting was the best thing I ever did. I hate the smell of smoke and the general feeling if shit.

At risk of being identified as part of that committee on dirt (I suggested self-cleaning, but the rendering lobby had more clout), cigarettes were all the way up to 70 cents a pack in machines when I said screw 'em. When they hit a $1 in machines, I figured most everyone would quit. Owe my fortune to such keen foresight.

You quit smoking at 63? Seems like at that point I'd just keep on enjoying the cool freshing feeling from a smoke. It's been 3 years since I quit and I still find myself thinking about smoking.

I quit July 15, 2006. Gained 30 lbs that I started to loose yesterday. Yes, sometimes I wake up wanting a cigarette but others smoking doesn't seem to bother me. I just miss the glamour and how intelligent you look when you smoke.
