Yeah but you might from a kid's dad who has been doing it for 30 years.

My dad has been a locomotive engineer for over 20 years.
Doesn't mean I know shit about trains.

Did I say I knew shit about trucks. FUCK NO. Clean your glasses and re-read what I said, Einstein.

So can we agree that until DragosPaw signs up for WFF, we don't need any input on this subject from the Chapman ranch?

No sense in having a big truck with little tires. ;)

the turbos alone in that truck are worth more then your life.

Of you can afford the diesel, you shouldn't be worrying about fuel economy. If you are then the diesel isn't for you.

3g, sounds like your mind was made up from the start. Just get a diesel.

Fair warning. Bearings and u-joints on my diesel cost me about $1700 in parts to do it myself. Priced out on my 1/2 ton I could have done it for under $500

Aaaaaactually since I've owned a 3/4 ton gasser that sucked at pulling, and since my dad has two diesel trucks that I'VE done a lot of heavy towing with (not just rode in them while my dad pulls stuff) I'm pretty well versed in the subject matter of this thread.

I deal with trucks all day long from our oil fields to road tankers as well as my own trucks I use around the farm if you're going to pull and haul a lot a diesel is worth the added expense if it'll be mainly a daily driver only gas should be fine and if you have a long daily commute invest in a small car or pickup for a daily driver it's a money saver in the end I have an f-550 I use around the farm the wife has an excursion with the 7.3 she drives daily but I bought a ranger to drive to the office everyday (85 miles round trip) that's what works best for me personally but to each their own in both work and home life it's been my experience diesel will last more miles but repairs are a lot more costly gas costs less to fix but can be problematic if used rough there are exceptions to this I know but the best thing to do is honestly look at what overall use will be and buy accordingly at work we have from pickups to road tractors and this is just my opinion based on my experience

Which kind is most economical by the mile?

OTHER PEOPLES TRUCKS ALWAYS GET BETTER MILEAGE AND NEED LESS MAINT. AND REPAIRS. USE YOUR FRIENDS OR NEIGHBORS TRUCK WHENEVER POSSIBLE. :)

Hey Flint, just cause you been around for 6-8 years longer doesn't mean you know any more either. Haven't you been listening to anything you and Olly have been spewing?

Aaaaaactually since I've owned a 3/4 ton gasser that sucked at pulling, and since my dad has two diesel trucks that I'VE done a lot of heavy towing with (not just rode in them while my dad pulls stuff) I'm pretty well versed in the subject matter of this thread. :tk: :tk: :qh: :qh: :qh:

Here, let me add a few things to your post that you forgot. ;)
Just because your older than Rex and have experience doesn't mean you're smarter or more qualified, right Olly, I mean Flint.

Little rule of thumb.
Lotta bullshitting going on in the blind.

Serious truck conversation is in the truck and car forum. Tim Taylor is the mod. :)
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.

Thanks. I almost passed out reading it. That's a lot to read without taking a breath.

After just picking up my new camper and pulling it home, I think I am going to stick with my half ton truck. On the way home I was pulling the 5k pound trailer into a 15 mph headwind and got 12 mpg for 125 miles of driving. The engine stayed at 2500 rpm's and only downshift a handful of times for the entire trip. I can live with that.
