There are many different flavors of baklava, and your first picture looks exactly like some I have bought at Greekfest. Filo dough, nuts, brown sugar, and I'm unsure what else is in it, but eat it, it's good!

There are many different flavors of baklava, and your first picture looks exactly like some I have bought at Greekfest. Filo dough, nuts, brown sugar, and I'm unsure what else is in it, but eat it, it's good!

Add butter and honey and you're pretty close. Now a days everyone makes it with walnuts but, it was traditionally made with pistachios. my mom made it for holidays all the time when I was a kid. It is definitely baklava.
Some people add cinnamon too.
Every layer of filo dough gets brushed with real butter as they layout the layers. I said butter, not margarine.
