From what I've gathered through incoherent ramblings. Droughts have nothing to do with a lack of precipitation. It's the nut trees.

Very interesting. Last I knew western KS and eastern CO has very few trees, of which none or few are nut trees. Please ask him what has been causing drought in these areas.

22, all the older experienced hunters stayed back and let the youngsters and newbys shoot. Nothing better than a group of 10-12 year olds surrounding a thicket with 200 birds come busting out.

Make a trip when birds come back. 100% wild, no food plots or anything. Seeing 1000 birds doesn't mean you'll get a lot of good shots.

They make you feel like you've earned it. Still hopelessly optimistic about this year. Had some much needed rains over last 2 weeks, might have come too late though, we are in peak hatch as of last week. What survives should have a better chance of surviving the summer.

Yea, if the nests are destroyed, they will continue trying to nest. Last 3 years have seen many birds without color when season opened. The later the hatch, the less chance of survival, if winter comes early the young birds don't survive. Once a pheasant have chicks, they won't renest, which is my worries for this year. Bobwhites will continue nesting, they have done better the last couple years.

Almost all the shrimpers wear those white rubber boots. Around here we call them Rockport Ropers. They are cooler in the summer than black rubber boots. It doesn't get real cold in the winter so some guys wear them for duck hunting, sort of an individual fashion statement.
