Just wondering, why would you pack all that gear and a rifle to go on a scouting hike?

Trespassers! He shoots them and then carves up their bodies and buries the pieces around his property. It's like a scavenger hunt for bears.

Just getting the legs ready for one. Two, I had that .300 RSAUM loaded up with some 220 Gr. Woodleigh Weldcore bullets. If mister grizzly decides to take a chomp on my ass, well you know what from there on out.

Time to invest in a heavy revolver.

I'd load that bitch up with some 320 gr. hardcast and leave the rifle at home. Brass getting hard to find for the SAUM cartridges yet?

So when are you opening up the ranch for the WFF Muley Smackdown? Don't worry, I won't even touch your elusive timber bucks, I'll cull the tards out in the open country.

That's what I'm talkin 'bout. I hate hunting in the trees. Love that big country.

They're all tards during the rut!

Sadly, depending on where the ranch is, the muley hunting is probably not good for quality bucks. I can't recall where Rex said it is, although the little belts rings a bell...

Them dumbass open country deer wouldn't let you get within a mile up there in the flats. Funny, up there almost all day and didn't see a single deer. Just a lot of grouse and some elk.

The ranch is right in the heart of the belts. Lots of good deer hunting in there. It's definitely no Broadus deer hunting but it is decent. 3 years in a row I have shot a really nice buck. First year was a 5 point I smoked coming off a ridge. He never knew I was there. The second one was a 6 pointer that I got a shoulder mount done on. Shot him about 1/2 a mile from where Brit shot her buck. Then that tall 4 pointer I shot two seasons ago. Then this last season, I shot a 3 pointer that looked like a half whitetail, plus my two does. Got all of them within an hour of each other.

My pop has shot a handful of good bucks in there as well. The biggest one scoring 183 and 1/4". The biologist said the buck was about 9-10 years old and the taxidermist said it was a pig.

Anytime. You're welcomed here! (Just not on the Chapman ranch. ) it's actually not my preferred elk stomping grounds because it takes a good 5 miles before you get into elk.

No kidding. The Amish work their horses for a full day, 100x more strenuous than your little hike, and they don't bat an eye. Even the loggers horses around here will get worked harder than you'll ever be capable of.
