Got nervous coming home. The closer I got, the more I saw downed trees...seems like we got lucky.

Good luck with your clean up, Jeffy. Hope everyone is ok over there...

This is a swamp I trap the edges of. I could walk all the way through with little need for even knee boots.

Boy, that is some serious stuff. Thank God it looks like all the animals and folks are all right. I know the everything can be replaced gets old, but thats the truth. That is one great looking little bull. If that is your stock, that is some breeding stock. We had angus and limosine. Here in this part of Texas, no rain for almost 5 or 6 yrs. All the boat docks are closed and most lakes in our area are 1/2 to officially dry. My duck hunting lake is dry. Twenty something miles long and there is only water in front of the dam. Boy I wish you could send most of that here. guess you do too, huh? Our prayers are with you and the whole area.

thats the plan as soon as everybody in the hood has the more important things fixed. spent the last two days in the excavator at different neighbors getting trees off houses and buildings and fences. by the end of daylight tomorrow i think all the more important things will be done.
still amazes me how people come together and sacrifice for others.since i dont have all that important of a job right now, i will be working clean up where ever i can until its done. i owe all the neighbors and friends that came out to help.
we will have plenty of bonfires this fall and winter

It's a little one, and I think it's supposed to hit the Outer Banks and bounce out to sea. We're not supposed to get a drop of rain from it, just a little wind. Hope they're wrong, because we need it.

It's the shits to have to hope a hurricane will bring the needed rain. We do that around here too: Hope they don't get the shit stomped out of them but maybe we'll get a little rain.

thanks Vince. been 3 years of drought for us until this spring. i would have thought some of our storms made it out that way.

we did have a kid die the other day near us. some kids playing frisbee and one walked into to some fast moving ankle deep water. washed his feet out from under him and took him down into a culvert but didnt come out other side. one of the other kids ran for help and one more jumped in and swam into culvert to help his friend, but never found him.
