thanks Vince. been 3 years of drought for us until this spring. i would have thought some of our storms made it out that way.

we did have a kid die the other day near us. some kids playing frisbee and one walked into to some fast moving ankle deep water. washed his feet out from under him and took him down into a culvert but didnt come out other side. one of the other kids ran for help and one more jumped in and swam into culvert to help his friend, but never found him.
dumb shits should know better, but when we were young we did the same stupid shit

That's terrible.

sucks big time. the boy that is still missing had a hell of a friend to try and save him.i guess the boy went through 9000 feet of storm drain before ending up in a lake in down town Cedar Rapids. the water ripped all his clothes off him and a homeless guy gave him some pants and the kid walk to the hospital

I was working as a bridge engineer when hurricane Ivan stalled over Pittsburgh. I have to go inspect a lot of private bridges as a result of extreme flooding. I drove by a house of a well to do family and saw this boy standing on top of a bridge that was flooded; the water was up to his knees and the stream was flowing fast and high, at least 8 or 9' deep when it was normally 1 to 2 feet deep. His parents were in the yard oblivious. I stopped the van and yelled at him to get the fuck off of that bridge. Un fucking believable!

damn weather

So, so close. If this fucker moves even 10 miles further out to sea instead of coming straight north, we won't get a drop of rain. I'm below the "n" in "Washington", in that big white spot. So far, we have got exactly zero rain. It's killing me- I just knew this thing was going to dump on us, but so far it's let me down.

I think it has. Been sort of raining. Kind of. See that white stripe below the word "Delaware"? The one with no rain? In the middle of all that huge mess of green? Yep, that's me  hopefully we'll catch some more as it goes through.

Just went to check. More than I thought, so far. But I'm hoping for at least 5 times that much, and so are the farmers.

It's something, radar looks like you could get more. We are needing more also. After 10"+ in June, haven't had any in a week and a half. Areas in my back yard are already starting to crack and dry out. Ground was a thirsty sponge.
