Hello everyone. I live in the South Padre Island, Texas area and hunt the marshes of the Lower Laguna Madre. I usually get my limits of redheads and pintails on every hunt and I occasionally get some widgeons, teal, bluebills, shovelers and buffleheads. Its rarely colder than 50 degress throughout the season and I can sometimes see redfish tailing in my decoy spreads. I just got my first chocolate lab and this is her first season which has taken my love of waterfowl hunting to a new level.

I'm going to attempt to post of few pics and if it doesn't work out I'll ask for instructions on how to do it.

:welcome: :welcome: This is a great place and I hope you stick around. Have you ever thought of taking a fishing rod with you for the redfish?

Hello from South Texas

Postby Laguna Madre » Mon Nov 19, 2012 3:35 pm

I think I accidentally deleted my last post so I'm going to try again. I live down in the South Padre Island, Texas area and hunt the marshes of the lower laguna madre. I usually get my limit of redheads and pintails with an occasional widgeon, teal, shoveler, bluebill and bufflehead thrown in. Mainly saltwater ducks. I've been duck hunting for about 15 years and just got my first chocolate lab which has taken my addiction to a new level. Work keeps getting in the way but fortunately I'm going to retire in about 8 years, 5 months, and 10 days but whose counting. I have two little boys that love to go and they are tearing them up with their red ryder bb guns that I allow them to carrry so they can practice their gun safety. I'm always interested in hunting new locations and I'm going to the Arkansas/ Texas border for a flooded timber hunt the first week of January. Hope everybody has a great season. Take care

Hello! The name is Rick Robertson 34 i live near Holy Island north eastern England. I originate fron the highlands of scotland caithness but maried a geordie lass 15 years ago. Work in the north sea oil industry have done since i left school.
My father and older brothers started me wildfowling as a child, I do enjoy most forms of shooting but enjoy wildfowling the most. I reload for both my rifles and shotgun incuding big bores. Have a well equiped worksop and enjoy working on my hot rods and motorcyles. I meet a lot of Americans in my work, and enjoy their company some are wildfowlers and the stories they tell are allways interesting, my interest in building hot rods is due partly to my American collegues. I apologise for the lengthy introduction, but as i dont know anyone here though it would be politicaly correct to try and introduce my self to the folks on here. Rick!

Welcome! Whether true or not, it seems like such a pain to hunt in Europe (in general) that I automatically admire those who do hunt there.

Thank you for the kind welcome, it can be a pain hunting here, its so small compared to your side of the ditch, but we get by just. We have not given up the idea of moving over there or alaska at some point in time. I have no firm offer of a job over there, but it as been said i could probably find work there doing my current job and experience, time will tell. At the moment the worlds economy is not encouraging me to make any move just yet. Ricky

@ Rickman

I have 42 cousins that live around Armadale Scotland. I'm going to make it up there one of these days. If the oil business ever brings you to Texas I'd be glad to take you hunting.

Hi all. I am extremely new to waterfowl, but am enjoying it thus far. I live on the Big Horn river in Montana, have a lab that I am pretty impressed with, and have acquired the total of my waterfowl calling knowledge from watching a Primos training film last night and scaring off a bunch of geese today.... but, the labradork and I combined for the first goose of our lives together this morning. Anyway, I'm no stranger to forums of many different pursuits and look forward to learning from those generous enough to share their knowledge.
